Rakomelo is produced from tsipouro – tsikoudia, which is sweetened exclusively with honey, does not contain any sugar and other sweeteners. The aroma of honey is enriched with aromatic herbs and fruits such as cinnamon, clove, anise, dittany, sage and other herbs. The resulting mixture remains for a short time in tanks before bottling, in order to combine its aromatic and taste characteristics and to “bind the aromas”.
Depending on the sugar content, you can find it as an alcoholic beverage and / or liqueur. Our distillery produces rakomelo as a liqueur because it uses enough honey for its production and its alcohol content is 20% vol.
Its color is clear, with a shade from deep golden yellow to dark brown.
It is consumed mainly during the winter, although it is wonderful and cold as a digestive after a meal.
